As major sponsor of the AFL, Toyota challenged us to create a live activation at the MCG’s Grand Final Village that would get footy fans involved, create a social media spectacle and celebrate Toyota’s support for grassroots football.

Enter The Dunkinator! We gave fans the chance to kick a footy at their favourite footy idols and try to dunk them, with every successful dunk giving the player a chance to win $10,000 for their grassroots footy club. AFL stars including Luke Hodge, Jarryd Roughead and Jonathan Brown got in on the action, drawing packed crowds of hopeful dunkers and spectators.

We also filled a Toyota HiLux with footies and challenged fans to guess how many were inside for a chance to win the last tickets to the Toyota AFL Grand Final. The number of footies matched the number of grassroots clubs Toyota had supported in 2017, bringing the idea back to the heart of the sponsorship.

The activation was a huge success, creating a memorable Grand Final Week spectacle and giving Toyota a fun, engaging way to celebrate its commitment to grassroots footy.
